“Dr. Dwight De Risi is a wonderful, kind and thorough doctor. After months of tests, numerous mammography places & other doctors. I finally found Dr. De Risi, he was so gentle and calming. I had to have a surgical biopsy on calcifications, but before he made that decision he had me go to get a stereotactic biopsy at Nassau Radiology (they are also wonderful) , he wanted to be sure that the surgery was 100% necessary before doing it. It was necessary and he and his staff made me feel very calm. The surgery went well and thankfully they came back benign. Dr. Derisi left me with no visible scar. I would recommend him (and have!) to anybody having any sort of breast issues.”

“I read a review that stated Dr. Dwight De Risi was nice, but the wait was a long one. That wait saved my wife’s life. Dr. Dwight De Risi is one of the best breast surgeons not only in New York, but in the country. People travel from all over the New York metropolitan area to see Dr. De Risi even though they may live near a Cancer Center in Manhattan. He has developed a reputation of instinctively knowing how to treat each person with humanity and dignity. His expertize as a surgeon is well respected in the surgical community. When we received the diagnosis of breast cancer, naturally we wanted a second opinion. Dr. De Risi not only thought it was a good idea, but he sincerely encouraged it and told us that the more information one gets the better. His exact words: It is your body…not mine. You are entitled to the best treatment you can get. We went to Dr. David Kinne, formerly chairman at Memorial Sloane Kettering Hospital and at the time Professor at Columbia University. He operates successfully on my mother. We got all the slides and mammograms for the visit and had them restudied at Columbia. Dr. Kinne said, “If you have Dr. De Risi as your doctor you certainly don’t need me. He is the finest doctor. One thing: if you have to wait…it is worth it. He works through the night.” Back to Dr. De Risi…..the office will tell you if they are running behind and tell you to go out and have dinner first and come back later. De Risi takes the time with each patient that he needs and when it is your turn you get the same excellent treatment that everyone else got. Bottom line: It is over six years and there is no reoccurrence and my wife would travel to New York from Florida, where we now live, to continue seeing Dr. De Risi. He is a man of compassion, dedication, intelligence, and relates to both the patient and her family in the most friendly and encouraging manner.”

“As anyone with breast cancer knows, it’s critical who will be treating you, as who does can make all the difference between a successful or unsuccessful outcome. With Dr. De Risi, you are in good hands. No other Doctor that I dealt with through this nightmare, could ever measure up to Dr. De Risi’s experience, skill, integrity, standards, warmth and compassion as a human being. No one is more dedicated to helping women with this dreadful disease, than Dr. De Risi. Being in Dr. De Risi’s care, is like being wrapped in a beautiful, silk robe. Thank you Dr. De Risi, you are a noble, kind, highly skilled doctor, and a thoughtful, loving, awesome human being. We all love you.”

“This doctor is truly one of a kind, unique. Very kind, sweet, compassionate, with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Dr. De Risi is very dedicated to his profession and to his patients. He is the real deal, genuine, not full of himself, no airs. Dr. De Risi’s integrity is extremely intact. Spends a great deal of time with you, answers all your questions, puts you at ease. Dr. De Risi was the only doctor who really took the time to think about what was going on with my breast, and came in with a totally different approach than previous doctors. My only regret is that I didn’t know about Dr. De Risi when I was first diagnosed, as I could have avoided a lot of needless aggravation. I truly believe that god pointed me in the direction of Dr. De Risi, and that Dr. De Risi, in turn pointed me in the right direction.”

“Thank God for Dr. Derisi-an angel- and, as said before, a gift to anyone facing breast disease or cancer. That is ALL he does all day—takes care of patients with breast cancer. It is well worth the wait at the office. I had a double mastectomy in 2004 for early stage breast cancer. Dr. DeRisi was the last of 4 breast surgeons and 2 medical oncologist that I consulted with; including one surgeon at Sloan Kettering who made me cry. Because I was such an early stage, I had too many choices. Dr. De Risi walked me through the whole decision process; getting to know me as a person, my values, my feelings, in helping me make MY decision. He never ended the consultation–he waited for me to say I was done. He has hands of an angel also. He did my double mastectomy in less than half the time promised by any other surgeon. I healed beautifully with full upper body mobility. As a nurse for over 20 years, I have never met a surgeon with such a bedside manner. There is no one else to go to.”
