What Is Nipple Discharge?
Nipple discharge is when fluid is leaking from one or both of your nipples. It is fairly common during late pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
Normal Discharge:

If the coloring is milky, clear or yellow

Comes out of both nipples

Happens when you squeeze your nipples
Abnormal Discharge:

If the coloring is pink or red

Comes out of only one nipple

Comes out of your nipple on its own

You also have pain or a lump in your breast
What Causes Nipple Discharge?
While nipple discharge could be a sign of breast cancer it could also be because of many other reasons including:

Rubbing from a t-shirt or bra

Underactive thyroid gland

If you are a man who is experiencing nipple discharge, discuss it with your physician as soon as possible.
While nipple discharge is mainly not an issue it is a good idea to talk to your doctor if you are experiencing it. Your doctor will most likely examine your breast and determine the next steps, which could include a biopsy, mammogram or ductogram.
